AlivaMab Discovery Services is seeking an outstanding Director / Sr. Director of Antibody Engineering to lead our antibody engineering and molecular biology strategies. This position will head a team of scientists responsible for designing, generating, and characterizing antibody-based therapeutics, including advanced modalities such as multispecifics and CARs. The Director / Sr. Director will report to the VP of Antibody Engineering and Protein Sciences and work closely with scientists and leaders in the Antibody Discovery Group. The position requires the candidate to lead antibody engineering through rational design, computational engineering, combinatorial approaches, or display technology. This role also requires the ability to establish high-level strategies and contribute to the expansion of antibody engineering capabilities and new technologies for antibody drug discovery.

 

The annualized anticipated base annual salary for this Dir/ possibly Sr Dir position ranges from $190K to 275K. Additionally, this position offers an annual bonus, equity, and other benefits. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to: location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor an antibody engineering and molecular biology team of scientists responsible for designing, generating, and characterizing antibody-based therapeutics, including advanced modalities such as multispecifics and CARs.
  • Design and execute engineering campaigns to deliver cutting-edge, developable biologics formats by applying molecular biology, structure-guided, computational, combinatorial and display approaches.
  • Lead technology development in antibody engineering and molecular biology.
  • Develop and employ complex molecular biology workflows to rapidly generate constructs from a variety of in silico and biological sources.
  • Interact and collaborate with leaders and teams across antibody discovery, protein sciences, and project management on project delivery and new technology development.
  • Partner with Business Development to pursue new partnerships.
  • Represent ADS’s scientific goals and interests at scientific conferences, partner meetings, and other events.
  • Establish a network of external partners from academia and industry to strengthen capabilities and capacity.
  • Develop and manage operating budget.
  • Provide growth opportunities and career development support for staff. Carry out performance management/reviews for staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • PhD in a relevant scientific area, such as antibody or protein engineering, protein biochemistry or biotechnology, plus a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in biologics research.
  • Recognized leader in antibody engineering and molecular biology as evidenced by publications, participation in international conferences, membership on journal editorial boards, etc.
  • Deep understanding of diverse biologics formats including bi- and multispecific antibodies and CARs. Background in structure-based antibody design and engineering.
  • Experience with antibody display platforms is required.
  • Experience with NGS is highly desirable.
  • Experience with computational protein engineering to improve developability is preferred.
  • Excellent communicator and highly effective in interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player and builder, possess great coaching skills and have great organizational skills.
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • High functioning in an environment dedicated to exceptional quality and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SnapGene and other programs necessary for the position.
