AlivaMab Discovery Services, LLC is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Director of In Vivo Antibody Discovery to lead our innovative research and antibody discovery team. As the Senior Director, you will make impactful contributions toward discovering the next generation of antibody-based therapeutics and driving scientific excellence. The annualized anticipated base annual salary for this Senior Director position ranges from $208K to 260K. Additionally, this position offers an annual bonus, equity, and other benefits.

Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to: location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.

Responsibilities

The Senior Director, Antibody Discovery will design, lead, and execute therapeutic antibody discovery projects and represent AlivaMab Discovery Services in partnering discussions and at conferences with scientific rigor and integrity. Functional responsibilities include leading antibody drug discovery teams using Ablexis’ AlivaMab Mouse suite of transgenic mice, our suite of immunization-based technologies, high-throughput fit-for-purpose screening cascades, and rapid subsequent screens to identify the best lead candidates. The successful candidate will also apply creative concepts as appropriate to continuously improve and expand functional area capabilities and efficiencies. The Senior Director, Antibody Discovery will also keep current with industry trends and innovations, applying critical thinking in the science and business of therapeutic antibody discovery and development.

 

This position entails extensive external- and internal-facing responsibilities.

 

Externally, the Senior Director of Antibody Discovery will regularly present to and interact directly and collaboratively with current and prospective partners of ADS, ranging from top pharmaceutical companies to public and private biotechnology companies, investor groups, and academics. Job functions include creating work plans for therapeutic antibody discovery projects, reporting on progress, and problem-solving. Internally, the successful candidate will oversee the execution of our partners' therapeutic discovery projects by managing teams responsible for immunizations, development of assays for both binding and function, and fit-for-purpose high-throughput antibody screening to rapidly identify lead candidates. The position will contribute to and oversee the development of new technologies to expand ADS' best-in-class therapeutic antibody discovery and development capabilities. The Senior Director, Antibody Discovery will collaborate with other functions including 1) project management and operational groups to capture key performance indicators and to improve operational efficiencies and 2) business development to produce presentation materials and to participate in new partner acquisition activities.

Qualifications

 

Key Skills and Requirements:

 

  • Highly experienced and creative scientific leadership in therapeutic antibody discovery, highly skilled in the creation and execution of therapeutic discovery workflows, preferably using transgenic mice, including immunization strategies, state-of-the-art hybridoma generation, and high-throughput fit-for-purpose screens, including function-first.
  • Track record of success evidenced through patent filings or drug candidates that have entered clinical
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration with diverse client constituencies in discovering drug-quality therapeutic antibody
  • Provision of scientific leadership, technical guidance, performance management and career development, to direct reports and to discovery teams executing disparate projects running at different phases, to achieve project deliverables on time and within
  • Track record of innovation in antibody drug discovery processes and workflows, including familiarity with strengths and weaknesses of various antibody drug discovery platforms and processes.
  • Outstanding skills in listening and collaboration
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills to represent the company, in partnering discussions and at conferences, with integrity and
  • Ability to prepare, present and discuss project reports in internal and partner-facing meetings with clarity, accuracy, and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and GraphPad
  • PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant scientific discipline, with a focus on antibody discovery, immunology, or related fields required.
  • Extensive experience (minimum of 10 years) in in vivo antibody discovery, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
