Senior Scientist, Antibody Engineering

AlivaMab Biologics is seeking an outstanding Senior Scientist, Antibody Engineering to lead our antibody engineering and molecular biology teams. This position will lead a team of research associates responsible for conducting phage display-based antibody discovery and the designing, generating, and characterizing of antibody-based therapeutics, including advanced modalities such as multispecifics and single-domain antibodies. The successful candidate will report to the Sr. Director of Antibody Engineering and Protein Sciences and work closely with scientists and leaders in the Antibody Discovery, Protein Sciences, and Project Management Group. The position requires a large body of work at the lab bench. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the expansion of antibody discovery and engineering capabilities at AlivaMab Biologics.

• Develop and execute a robust phage-based immune repertoire display platform for forced common light chain and single domain human VH antibody discovery and optimization.
• Lead an antibody engineering and molecular biology team responsible for designing, generating, and characterizing antibody-based therapeutics, including advanced modalities such as multispecific antibodies and single-domain human VH antibodies.
• Design, lead, and execute engineering campaigns to deliver cutting-edge, developable biologics formats by applying phage display, molecular biology, structure-guided, and computational approaches.
• Lead technology development in antibody engineering and molecular biology.
• Develop and employ complex molecular biology workflows to rapidly generate constructs from various sources.
• Interact and collaborate with leaders and teams across antibody discovery, protein sciences, and project management on project delivery and new technology development.
• Create precise technical summaries and protocols, and maintain proper documentation and data reporting in ELN.
• This is a full-time and lab-based position.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• PhD in a relevant scientific area, such as antibody or protein engineering, protein biochemistry, or biotechnology, plus at least five years of professional experience in biologics research.
• Hands-on experience with antibody phage display platforms is required.
• Deep understanding of diverse biologics formats, including bi- and multispecific antibodies, and single-domain antibodies is required.
• Background in structure-based antibody design and engineering is desired.
• Experience with antibody engineering is preferred.
• Excellent communicator and highly effective in interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Team player and builder, possess great coaching skills, and have great organizational skills.
• High degree of integrity and professionalism and dedication to exceptional quality and integrity.

The compensation range for this position is $136,000 - $171,000.
